Cities defend human rights!

Catalunya

As from 2013, the project “Cities Defenders of Human Right” (Ciudades defensoras de los Derechos Humanos) aims to strengthen citizen’s knowledge on the role of human rights defenders and to promote the integration of human rights in local policy making. It does so by inviting human rights defenders from all over the world to a series of conferences, events and official meetings open to citizens, civil society and public officials.

The project was launched by the city council of Sant Boi (Province of Barcelona, partner of PLATFORMA) in collaboration with the Catalan Refugee Aid Commission (Comisió Catalana d’Ajuda al Refugiat), the Human Rights Institute of Catalonia (IDHC) and the International Catalan Institute for Peace (ICIP). More than 15 Catalan cities participate in this project with the commitment to defend and promote human rights, solidarity and peace as major axes of their public policy. Check this video and the project’s webpage if you want to know more.
